On the 19th of December 2024, representatives from InnovaWood participated in the webinar Timber Construction in Latin America, organized by Club Madera. Club Madera is an initiative developed by Cesefor to connect companies, organizations and professionals in technological development and training in wood construction.
From InnovaWood, Vanesa Baño spoke in the webinar as an opening panellist, presenting the joint vision of the Ibero-American context on timber construction. After, speakers María Alexandra Sosa Zitto – Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (Argentina), Carlito Calil Jr. – USP – Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil), Alexander Opazo Vega – Universidad del Bío Bío (Chile), Laura Moya – (Universidad ORT Uruguay) and Jorge Branco – Universidade do Minho (Portugal) offered an analysis of their respective countries.
Next to the webinar, Vanesa Baño shared her observations in the opinion article Introduction to wood construction in Latin America. In the article, she addresses trends about wood production and consumption, structural design codes, wood product standards, as well as well as the timber building typologies that can are arising in some Latin American countries.
