The project aims to equip furniture companies with the knowledge needed to conduct lifecycle assessments (LCA) to quantify environmental impacts and make informed decisions
FURNITURELCA’s goals are to equip furniture companies with knowledge on:
- lifecycle assessment (LCA) that permits to quantify environmental impacts (and make better environmental decisions), (WP2)
- how to measure PEF (Product Environmental Footprint), and OEF (Organization Environmental Footprint), (WP3)
- how to receive and use the Environmental Project Declaration (an official statement of product environmental impact), (WP3)
FURNITURELCA first gathers all available information, including regulations on environmental declarations, applicable rules, and relevant data. After that, the knowledge hub is developed on a tailor-made website equipped with a digital assistant – an artificial intelligence tool.
In WP3, the roadmap for preparing and implementing the Life Cycle Assessment and the EPD is created to guide FURNITURE SMEs and their employees. The master guide is then applied in practice by presenting complete start-to-finish LCA cases.
Through the implementation of the project, companies significantly increase their awareness of furniture Life Cycle Analysis and become ready to meet the growing market demand for product environmental certifications. In addition, they are adopting this approach in their furniture design process on a regular basis.
